London Day II

I walked my feet off today in London. I started by again creating a hold up at the local grocery store! Only this time it couldn't be blamed on the language barrier. I quickly did my usual terrible signature on the receipt, only the cashier decided it wasn't close enough to my licence, and when I pointed out that my face matched my name on the license and the card, she said the face doesn't count, only the signature. So I whipped out my passport, but that wasn't good enough either. So back to the manager's office we had to go so I could be on my way with my six dollars of groceries. There were so many people standing behind me they had to open up another lane. Needless to say, I have been signing things verrry carefully ever since!

After that fiasco, I set off for Westminster Abbey where I got chewed out twice by a priest for watching the church service. Apparently they have a lot of tourists sneak in pretending to be interested in Mass, trouble was, I had my ticket to show so he had to let me go. I've never encountered a beligerant priest before, only in London. The church was amazing of course, and I got to see where Elizabeth I is buried, I can only hope I'll receive similar treatment when I kick off. ha ha.

Next I saw the British Cabinet rooms in an underground bunker where all the officials gathered during the blitz during WW II. It was really interesting, with the rooms set up exactly as they were during the war. They also had a very detailed section on Winston Churchill.

I saw Big Ben, the Parliment building, Number 10 Downing Street, Buckinham Palace, Harrods, Hyde Park, St. James Park, Kennsington Gardens, Notting Hill, and after dark I took a ride up the London Eye. The Eye is a giant permanent ferris wheel right on the edge of the Thames River, it was a great way to see the city.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to hit a few more sights in London, and I leave for Bordeaux on Sunday, which is when all the presentation fun begins.
